Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Kindergarten Orientation
Our future kindergarten students attend orientation days to make their transition to school easier. We hold a teddy bears picnic with their Year 5 buddies.
ANZAC Day March
Our student leaders led the students in the ANZAC Day march in Wingham this year.
Year 6 Leadership Day
The Young Leaders Conference was held in Sydney in March 2025.
The purpose of the Leadership Day is to:
Inspire students to make a positive contribution to their school.
Motivate students to be great leaders in their area of influence.
Empower students with practical skills of balancing study, school commitments and social life as well as managing the stress in these areas.
Promote the value of inspirational and positive role models as examples to others, by exposing students to a diverse range of leaders and their views on leadership.
Educate students about the need to grow in knowledge and practical skills in the areas of excellence and leadership.
Connect students with other students from other schools and develop long term support networks.
Athletics Carnival
Every year we hold a Primary and Infants Athletics Carnival. We hold running races, long jump, shotput and high jump events as well as ball games.
PSSA Events
Our students have the opportunity to attend different PSSA events during the school year.
100 Days of Kinder
100 Days of Kinder is a milestone filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of grey wigs! Our delightful Kinders look adorable when they dress as 100-year-olds, and all the activities throughout the day revolve around the number 100. It is a fun and meaningful way to reflect on how far they’ve come in their learning journey.
Gecko Sports Days
With scientifically designed multi-sport programs, GeckoSports provides a fun and safe way for school aged kids to start their sports and fitness journey. When it comes to engaging kids and encouraging physical activity in a fun, non-competitive environment, the programs have been leading the way for over a decade across Australia!
Excursions
This year we have held excursions for every Stage. These included the following:
K-2 visited Billabong Zoo
Stage 2 visited Camp Elim
Stage 3 visited Canberra
Fathering Project
The Fathering Project has the aim of supporting fathers, and father figures, to be the best parent they can be so their children can thrive.
We hold different activities during the school terms to support the project. These have included games afternoons, paper plane building competitions, handball competitions, camping trips and fitness circuits.
Music and Choir Programs
We are privileged to be able to have the wonderful ACMF program support our students. ACMF provides long-term music programs and free instruments to children that improve wellbeing, inspire creativity and imagination, and help achieve positive educational and behavioural outcomes. It’s more than music; our programs have a tangible impact, proven to increase school attendance, self-esteem and resilience.
"Both of our children have blossomed into two young people we are extremely proud of, and we are excited for their futures. This is in no small part due to the caring, nurturing and understanding of the amazing staff you have working with you and your leadership of the school. ” — a parent of Wingham Brush Public School
